Aural is an interactive audiovisual installation developed in 2019 as a Master’s Final Project at BAU, Centre Universitari de Disseny de Barcelona. The project was created collaboratively by Natalia Gima, Miriam Fellici, and Magdalena Hart, at a time when the collective Akyute had just been formed.

The installation explores the translation of light into sound through physical interaction. Inspired by the idea of visualizing a participant’s aura, Auralinvestigates how specific sound frequencies can influence perception and states of consciousness, linking bodily movement with audiovisual feedback.

Through direct interaction with a luminous sculptural interface, participants actively shape their own soundscape in real time. Movement, light, and sound are tightly interconnected, allowing the installation to respond continuously to the presence and actions of the body.

The project was developed within the context of the Master in Interactive Environments and Audiovisual Innovation at BAU, with the support of Santi Vilanova and Anna Carreras. While Aural marks an early collaborative stage of Akyute, it also reflects the individual research interests that later evolved into the collective’s ongoing practice.
