Live audiovisual performance ← Back to Artist Work
O.I. – Organic Intelligence is a live performance by Jokkoo Collective, presented at Sónar Festival and Berlin Atonal, combining experimental electronic music, generative systems, acoustic instruments, field recordings, and voice. The piece explores interdependence, memory, and ecological resilience through an evolving sonic structure shaped in real time.
For this piece, I performed the live visuals, developing and operating a custom audiovisual system in real time. My visual work functions as a form of live cinema: an evolving composition of image, rhythm, and spatial response shaped through audio-reactive processes.
The visual performance brings together documentary footage recorded between Africa and Europe by Jokkoo Collective and @serahboo.m, interwoven with 3D animations created by @vaopoku and additional visual material developed specifically for the performance. Rather than illustrating the music, the visuals operate as a parallel narrative space, translating the temporal and dynamic qualities of the sound into a responsive audiovisual environment.
Performed inside the Kraftwerk space at Berlin Atonal and within Sónar’s experimental programming, the visuals transformed the architectural scale of the venues into immersive, audio-reactive landscapes. The work unfolded as a continuous negotiation between documentary and generative imagery, abstraction and material presence, allowing the visual system to adapt and reconfigure in dialogue with the live sound.
In O.I., my role was not to provide a fixed visual backdrop, but to perform the image as a living, responsive system—remaining open to the unpredictability of live performance and the intensity of the musical context.
